Day 3 -- The *real* beach

We had a fun day seeing Santa Barbara. We were trying to find a place to play in the tide pools, but it didn't really work out. After looking around some, it was lunch time, so we headed to In and Out Burger for lunch. Then we went to go take a quick visit to a local LDS church to visit Grandpa who was meeting with some missionaries. It was fun to see the missionaries and grandpa for a couple minutes. After that we decided to go back to Ventura and play at the beach. And we sure did play! It was great. I'm so glad that Betty was able to come with us because having that extra person made a huge difference. The kids had never been to a beach before, and I hadn't been since I was a junior in high school, and even that was in FL, not CA. So, it was a lot of fun. While we were there the tide gradually got bigger, and so it was really fun to run away from the waves, etc. Anyways, there are a lot of pictures, but they're cute.

Kate was a little scared to walk in the water at first, so Dale took her out.

Thinking about liking it.

The ocean

Dale and I on the beach with the ocean.

The kids loved playing in the sand.

Me and Spencer. He wasn't a huge fan, but we brought him out to check out what everyone was doing anyways.

Daddy and Spencer

Spencer and Dale checking it all out.

Spencer wasn't too sure about the sand or the freezing water, but his cubby little foot looked so cute!

A family picture

Betty enjoying the view and the cool water.

The kids just ran between our blanket where grandma was and the beach/ocean where mom and dad were.

Lining up sticks

Will was So unsure of what to think of the ocean. It took a long time to get him actually in the water just a little. In this picture, you can see that his feet aren't even in the water at all, he was just so scared to letting it touch him.

Grandma and Spencer just watching and enjoying the nice temperature.

Working hard

Miss Kate

Will

Dale

So pretty

So dirty, but so happy!

So excited to play together and in the water.

Running away from the water. Kate LOVED this game.

She loved playing in the water and loved the mud.

Little footprints.

Will was excited to find sticks that looked like a plane.

Dale let the sand cover his feet as the tide came, and the kids thought it was so hilarious.

Playing with the kidos.

Finally got Will out there and he loved it so much!
